The Granny Smith Apple Tree (Malus domestica 'Granny Smith') is a classic choice for gardeners seeking a reliable fruiting tree that produces tart, crisp apples. This semi-dwarf variety typically grows to a mature size of 12–15 feet wide and tall, making it an excellent option for home orchards and compact spaces alike. Known for its signature bright green apples, the Granny Smith tree is a favorite for baking, fresh eating, and juicing.

Thriving in USDA hardiness zones 5–9, this apple tree prefers full sun to ensure optimal fruit production and robust growth. Plant it in well-draining, loamy soil with a slightly acidic to neutral pH for the best results. While the Granny Smith tree is partially self-pollinating, planting it near other apple varieties like Fuji or Honeycrisp can enhance pollination and boost yields.

Granny Smith Apple Trees are not only productive but also resistant to many common apple tree diseases, making them a low-maintenance addition to your garden. With their stunning spring blooms and a harvest-ready season in late fall, these trees offer both beauty and bounty. Add a Granny Smith Apple Tree to your landscape for a perennial source of flavor and freshness.
